I’m on this uber organization kick at the moment. I’m feeling the pressure of the upcoming school year which will see myself returning to school and the kiddos entering daycare/preschool for the first time. I’ve made appointments for everything I can think of: eyes, dentist, check ups, and now I’m moving on to Halloween costumes.
It seems that every year I start thinking of Halloween at the start of September and then the thoughts are pushed aside as life inevitably gets busy, and I’m left scrambling in mid-October. Last year my costume was lame. Since I know I will be doing a practicum in an elementary school this October, I figure there’s no time like now to pick and order a costume. While I’m at it, why not do the whole family? Poor G just doesn’t get this whole Halloween dressing up thing – he has a hard time justifying the expense of a once-a-year costume. But then, he grew up in a country that doesn’t celebrate Halloween the way we do, so he doesn’t know the childhood fun of all the silliness.
I’ve been browsing some Halloween sites and it’s tricky to find a cute women’s Halloween costume that I could wear to school. Seriously, the length of the skirts on my tall frame make them completely inappropriate for the classroom. I think I’ve found an acceptable one – A Raggedy Ann doll. G wants to be a pirate and the girls are going to be a leopard and a lioness. I haven’t quite committed yet, because I’m not sure whether I need a second costume (hard to justify the cost). Are G and I going to look odd showing up at an adult’s Halloween party as a pirate and a rag doll? Is it ok to completely mismatch your husband?

[...] you clearly don’t know me and have a warped view of me because I posted about having already ordered our Halloween costumes. I am pretty much someone who leaves things to the last minute and / or past the last minute. [...]
